How to Select a Screw Conveyor

1. Determine the model and specification of the screw conveyor according to the conveying capacity required by the process.

2. Select the proper model based on different process requirements. For horizontal or small‑inclination short‑distance conveying, adopt the horizontal low‑speed (LSS‑type) screw conveyor; for vertical or large‑inclination conveying with limited lifting height, adopt the vertical high‑speed (LSL‑type) screw conveyor.

3. Confirm the form of screw blades according to the properties of conveyed materials. Full‑face blades are suitable for free‑flowing materials such as wheat and rice. Band‑type blades shall be used for oily, highly‑viscous and sticky materials to avoid blockage. Please note that screw conveyors are generally not recommended for raw grain and rice to prevent material breakage.

4. Define the rotation direction of screw blades, screw‑shaft rotation and screw assembly according to the layout requirements of process equipment. Once the positions of the conveyor head and tail (feeding and discharging ends) are confirmed, the material conveying direction is fixed. The rotation directions of screw blades and shaft must meet the requirements. If intermediate or both‑end discharging is required, blades with opposite rotation directions shall be combined into one screw unit.
